‘Pulse’ is the result of extensive design research conducted within 81 the ageing population in the UK, to increase independence for a better quality of life. We quickly realised that the current solutions were dealing with the symptoms and not the real problem itself. What if we could motivate people to stay active and understand the future impact of their present choices in lifestyle? How can we communicate that this has a transformative power over both their present and future wellbeing?

‘Pulse’ aims to connect people in their teens and early adult life to how exercise and lifestyle choices will affect their future selves in order to promote behaviour change. The system consists of interactive sports environments to help motivate people on existing achievements and an online service that allows the user’s progress to be presented and contextualised by a visualisation of their ‘future self’.
