The One-way Ticket
Space capsule film set
'The One-way Ticket' is a proposition to send one person on a voyage into deep space from where they will not return. The project investigates the exceptional nature of the scenario, and is exhibited as a multimedia installation. The primary focus is the unique experience of the astronaut travelling aboard the spacecraft.
The project is based on my interest in our perception of space as one of the last bastions of discovery. As frontiers for manned exploration are diminishing on Earth and its near surroundings, the one-way trip contrasts the banal paradigms of tourism and refreshes the promise of space for adventure and wonder.
